I already read a lot about sensory tubes and the many possibilities that exist to fill the sensory tubes with all kinds of things to look at. I was looking for a solid and sustainable alternative to the hassle with plastic bottles, which incidentally consist of very thin plastic and are considered too ‘noisy’ by Kobe.
Once the sensory bottles were finally in the house, I brought out my most creative side and started working with glitter, colored stars, confetti, colored feathers and pompoms in all kinds of colors and sizes ? I am curious how Kobe will react to them.
The first days the sensory bottles do not seem to interest him. Of course mama, what did you think?! I decide not to force Kobe and leave the tubes alternately near him when we play in the play corner at home. The tube that I had filled with water and glitter, seems to have its effect after a few days. Especially when the sun is shining. Then the glitter gives an extra blingbling effect.
We vary with colored water beads (which, by the way, make for a very nice color palette if you hold them against the light), but the sensory rice is Kobe’s favorite. Colorful, little bit of rustling and very nice to shake and roll with. We also tried to add buttons to the rice, so that he keeps his attention on the sensory tube for longer.
The tubes are very sturdy and can take a beating! It is a toy that can last quite a while and that we will probably enjoy with periods.
For example, we still think of pasta to fill the tubes, or dry beans, … For the time being, we have not yet tested with herbs or fragrances (because Kobe has less need for them). The nice thing is that there are other lids with holes attached, so that kids who need this, can also enjoy themselves.
Although the manual also gives examples of activities with water and oil, we have found through the use that the pipes do not seem to be 100% waterproof (I tried several tubes to make sure that it would not be on one tube), but fortunately that can not spoil ? the fun
