Our Thijs of 4 has an overall developmental delay of 2.5 years, but is fortunately a good sleeper. With a banana (for the natural melatonin), some fish oil capsules and a weighted blanket, he falls into a deep sleep within 3 minutes.
But sleeping through the night is quite a problem. Thijs can wake up in the middle of the night and then just be awake for 3 hours. I always have to stay in his room until he sleeps again, because when I walk out of the room, he immediately stands up and bangs his fists hard against the side of his bed. Fortunately, we have very nice neighbors, who know about the situation and will never complain, but I really wanted to come up with something for that. That’s why I wanted to try the Ocean wave projector with speaker.
The projector has been in use for a week now and I have to say that Thijs is calm. You can set the projector lamp in 7 different positions with different visual effects. I notice that the red/blue/green clouds are most popular with Thijs. He finds it magical to watch.
The projector also features a number of nature sounds. Forest, ocean, birds and cheerful nature. You can also link your own music to it, but Thijs does not fall asleep with music on. So we turn off the sounds.
The projector is also good to use in a snoezel room, but that is not necessary for our Thijs. For the nights it works great for us for the time being! Thijs still wakes up at night and I still have to stay in his room, but it takes about half an hour before he falls asleep again. A lot has already been gained there. Especially for my own sleep.
