The story behind Senseez

Senseez originated from the need of a mother with a 2 year old son. Her son couldn’t sit still and had autism. As a child, he couldn’t sit in one place long enough to eat or read a story. The Canadian mother talked to an occupational therapist about this. He recommended a vibrating mat. Her son was immediately sold!

But one day she wanted to take her son to the local library to listen to the reading and although the mat would help … It was big and heavy and had to be plugged in. She worried that her son would look different with this big mat. So she started looking for a small, lightweight, portable pillow that would offer the same sensations and could be easily carried. I couldn’t find one! That was when she made the original prototypes at home for her son. Senseez was born!

What do senseez pillows do?

These colorful, lightweight, fun portable vibrating pillows originated in Canada and offer a soft feel when compressed or sat on. The vibration causes the body to relax and calm down. Senseez illuminates the senses!

The vibrating pillows can calm children who need more sensory feedback or help train hypersensitive children to tolerate more sensations.

Who are Senseez vibrating cushions suitable for?

Children who have difficulty eating, listening to stories, long car journeys, schoolwork, watching a movie or sitting at the table. These children are comforted, as it were, by the vibrations of Senseez. While the vibrating pads are initially great for high-energy kids, these sensory pillows are also the ideal pillows for kids with special care needs, especially for kids with autism, ADHD, high sensitivity, or sensory stimulus processing issues.

How to use the Senseez pillow?

In use, you can compare these vibrating cushions with the well-known wobble cushions. For optimal effect, use the pillow a few times a day, for 25 minutes. Longer use ensures that the child gets used to the stimuli and the pillow loses its effect. So bet more often on the day short than once much too long.

What different products are there from senseez?

The senseez adjustables 3 in 1

This vibrating cushion has a bag of weighting of 2kg. You can also take the bag out or put extra weight / weight in it yourself. Furthermore, this senseez pillow has a heat / cold compress, which you can either heat up or let it get cold in the freezer. Finally, the pillow also vibrates due to the button or buzzer that is in it, (you can also take it out and even choose how hard the pillow vibrates) when you press the pillow firmly or sit on it, the vibrations are released.

Senseez trendables

The senseez trendables give a slight vibrating feeling when you grip it firmly or sit on it, this helps as I already write in this article for example for relaxing, sitting still, for increased concentration / alertness … These cushions are available in 3 different versions. Here I put the different types of senseez trendables:

• Flannel (nice and warm because of the flannel dust!)
• Hoodie (this has a hood that you can put on) and also super handy if you have chew jewelry you can tie them to the strings of the hoodie senseez trendables!
• Sweater :d it model has buttons on the pillow, very popular in elderly care (dementia)

Senseez soothables

This senseez hot/cold compress cuddly toy helps the body relax and unwind. The ideal cuddly toy for a good night’s sleep. It can serve as a heat jug or make cold. They are available in these super soft versions / models:

• Cow Soothables: These soft shoothables with very soft fabric printed with the stains of a cow
• Octopus soothables: this octopus has nice curls and is super soft, also very nice to relax while fidgeting
• Turtle Soothables: This soft turtle soothables has a different structure with balls on it. Ideal if you have a stimulus-seeking child/adult.

Senseez soothables/massage plush toy

This senseez soothables / massage plush gives a soft monotonous vibrating feeling when you put pressure on it. Ideal to relax on the couch or in bed after a long or difficult day, or to increase alertness due to the trembling feeling, for example in therapy or stimulus-seeking children / adults. This senseez soothables / massage plush can be combined with the senseez soothables / cold heat pack.

Senseez originals

These senseez originals cushions, like all senseez products, have a buzzer / button in their seat that vibrates when you give pressure or sit on it, ideal for sitting still longer or for better concentration / alertness, or for other reasons. You can also hold or press the pillows in your arms and experience the vibrations and relax. These senseez originals are made of vinyl. You can also clean these senseez originals the cover / circumference with a damp cloth. They are particularly suitable for children of primary school age.

Senseez touchables

The senseez touchables are vibrating cushions with a soft cover. They give a soft vibrating sensation when pressed or when sitting on them. Want to relax on the couch or unwind after a tiring day? Then senseez is probably something for your child! This soft pillow vibrates and helps sit still for longer, do homework, increase alertness.

My experience with Senseez cushions

I benefit a lot from senseez… I first learned about aggravation and deep pressure at a lecture about autism, and wanted to test whether this could help me. I ended up at Educadora webshop, and was and am very well helped here to use the right products to relax in my case (I have Autism and ADHD).

I had trouble sleeping and was easily overstimulated… until, on good advice and help from Suzanne, I ended up with the senseez adjustables 3 in 1. This pillow has weighting as well as vibration and a cold heat pack. I use this pillow every day/night. I relax after a long day at work! Finally!

And then I also have the senseez soothables cold/heat pack. I use this as a hot water bottle and cool it in the fridge or refrigerator in the summer. And then finally I have the cow version of senseez soothables / massage cuddly toy and I can fidget with it and I relax (also because of the vibrations! I take it with me everywhere. Handy such a small size!
