A highly sensitive child has a lot to deal with, just at home. Let alone if a child goes to childcare or school. A highly sensitive child processes events in a different way. An HSP child receives more stimuli than an average child. All sensory stimuli but also feelings come in deeper. Since a lot happens in a day, the child often does not have the ability to process all the events. Often in the evening there is a lot going on in the head of the toddler, toddler or primary school child. The whole day is replayed, the child can retell exactly what the miss was wearing for clothes. Whether the teacher had a good or a bad day, or perhaps worries. But also which child was active and made disturbing noises. In short, a highly sensitive child absorbs all the details. This causes restless falling asleep, but also worrying or not being able to sleep. I give you tips to help your HSP child relax better before bed, so that your child sleeps more peacefully.
Of course you want your child to fall asleep peacefully and relaxed. But a highly sensitive child often has difficulty processing all the details and giving them a place. A weighted blanket can help your child fall asleep. The unrest quickly dissipated due to the heaviness of the blanket. There are various weighted blankets, blankets that you can place partly over the child. But also blankets that your child can lie completely under. First, let your child get used to the heaviness. As soon as your child lies underneath, the body becomes heavy, giving the body a signal of rest. With a heavy blanket that is covered over the entire body, the legs and arms become heavy. Three-quarters of the body goes into resting position and the head automatically goes along. The blanket molds to your body, making it feel like you’re in a safe cocoon.
Let your hsp child experience the peace and relaxation with a weighted hug. A weighted hug is available in several species such as a dolphin or a frog. The heaviness pressure has a relaxing effect, the dolphin cuddly toy can be placed around the neck, and temporarily left there. This way, the weighted hug becomes your child’s best friend.
You can also let your highly sensitive child meditate through a meditation app. You can also use the weighted blanket and the weighted cuddly toy. In the meditation app. your child is calmly sounded from the sea. The narrator takes you to a place where it is quiet and lets your body part relax one by one in a nice way.
Do you have any tips to help your highly sensitive child sleep better and relax?
