Activities with water pearls
A sensory play activity with water beads can be a fun and educational activity for children and can promote the development of different senses.
But before you can start playing with the water beads, you have to be patient. You may be wondering if a small box of water pearls will suffice? But you will be surprised when you put a small amount in a container with plenty of lukewarm water. After about 6 hours, the pearls have absorbed the water and have grown into balls the size of a marble! Are they ready! Then you will find some suggestions for activities with the colorful water beads below:
1. Sensory Bottle
A sensory bottle quickly appeals to young children, but also to children with disabilities. Fill a transparent bottle with water beads, you can also add glitter to this.
2. Sorting with water beads
A fun educational activity for toddlers. Have your child practice sorting the water pearls by color. For example, use the sorting scale.
3. Sensory bin (or theme bin)
Make a themed container where the water beads are the basic material. Here you can optionally add animal figures to let your child look for them. To also practice fine motor skills, you can let your child take out the animals with large tweezers .
4. Sensory play with water pearls
Fill a low large container (or tuff tray) with water beads and add shaving cream for a delicious tactile experience. Another cool idea is to freeze the water beads (nice for a hot summer day!).
5. Create your own Stress Ball
Fill a transparent balloon with waterbeads and put a good knot in it and the stress ball is ready!
6. Discover and create
For young children it is an enriching experience to offer a container of water beads, with scoops, grabs and bowls , pouring, scooping and exploring.
It is important to always supervise children while playing with water beads and make sure they are not put in the mouth.
We wish you a lot of fun!
