Guide on Autism
You usually don’t see anything about children with an autistic spectrum disorder (ASD). Yet these children do function differently from other children because of their autism.
This guide introduces parents, grandfathers and grandmothers, teachers, people in healthcare, etc. to the world of children with autism in 80 short tips. Through insight into that world and appropriate guidance, the environment can ensure that these children – with all their wonderful characteristics – can fully flourish.
About The Author
Karin Scheffer (1964) is a nurse and registered psycho-social worker. She has had her own practice in Apeldoorn (www.beterinzicht.nl) since 2012. She specialises in loss situations in the broadest sense of the word (loss of loved ones, loss due to illness and loss of work). She has years of experience with autism both famously and privately. Two of her three children have autism and often have difficulty functioning in this society.
By reading about this subject for many years, offering assistance and having gained her own experience, she has collected many tips that can now be read in this book. By extracting the essence from a lot of information, she hopes to get more people reading about how to deal with people with autism with this booklet.
