[Wendy wrote a review for us about our Mohdoh Aromatheraputty]
I love my children, but I love the moment when they are all in bed. Rest! Time for myself. Only in theory this is easier than in practice. Because, my eldest daughter has trouble falling asleep. Falling asleep… What a hassle when you are 8 and everything that happened that day is still going through your head. But that problem has been solved for two weeks. What a relief. Curious how we can help her fall asleep easily?
Aromatheraputty?!?
We received a very nice offer from Educadora. A webshop that offers products that help children process stimuli. We were allowed to try out the aromatheraputty. There are several types and we have the Winks 40 version, especially for falling asleep. The aromatheraputty is best described as a very light clay. The operation is twofold. My daughter kneads the clay and at the same time a natural scent of juniper, lavender, palmarosa and geranium is released.
Sleep peacefully.
The evening ritual is still going as usual. Only we have added something to it. Namely to knead the aromatheraputty. She does this for about 10 minutes. Usually I leave her alone for a while. I hang up a wash, clean up the toys and then she is done kneading. When I enter her room it smells delicious. A soft calming scent. After kneading, my daughter lies down and just falls asleep. Where she normally needed at least an hour, and sometimes longer, she now sleeps with 15 minutes. What a party. The advantage is also that she wakes up rested and I don’t have to pull her out of bed.
Magic?
How it works? A combination of aromatherapy and working with your hands? No idea if it is or if the placebo effect is doing its job. But the most important thing for me is that it works. Or actually for her. Because my daughter is happy. She asks for her ‘dough’ herself and feels good about it.
Peace and space for myself.
And I am satisfied. Because I really need the evenings to recover from the day. I love life with children, but at the same time I also find it a search for enough time and space for myself. And that’s why I’m so happy with quiet evenings. Time for myself, my husband and my hobbies. Room for the things that make me happy.
Are you curious about the aromatheraputty? There are more species with names like: ‘are we there yet?’. But there is also the version ‘time out’ and ‘breath’.
