Review Yippee Hearing Protector

[This review was written by Maaike]

In our family there is quite a bit of noise. A 9-year-old son and 5-year-old girl twins who all three are still playing downstairs and chatting about their day. A television or a computer, the tip-toi or the audiobook and the daily sounds of the dishwasher, the cooking, the vacuum cleaner and the leaf blower of the municipal workers outside….. It is never quiet here during the day.

Fine and cozy but sometimes really a burden for our children.

Sensitive to noise

Our 9-year-old son has been diagnosed with ADHD and is extremely sensitive to all kinds of stimuli. Sounds can also hit him very hard and irritate him enormously, the sounds literally hurt him or fill his head so much that he can’t think of anything else. The girls sometimes suffer from this too, but a lot less than their brother.

Listen to music with headphones

We have been looking for different solutions for a while. Small earphones with music? Works fine but not if you really want to be quiet “in your head”. Hearing protection from the hardware store? Well tried and not expensive but not quiet enough and much too big for small children’s heads. Also had a variant that, in my son’s opinion, exerted far too much pressure on his ears, felt annoying and was not a success. Headphones that cover your entire ear when you’re not playing music? They don’t dampen enough….

And then we came into contact with the Jippie hearing protector through Educadora Webshop. It comes in two variants, just damping and extra damping. Beautiful! I thought we’d try that out! My son could choose which variant he liked. The regular damping variant was ordered in a cool camouflage print and the extra damping had to be blue. No sooner said than done.

Experience with hearing protection

And how do you like these hearing protectors? Fine! in a word, great. What is also nice about Jippie’s hearing protection is that they are designed for children’s ears and that the strap over the head is easy to adjust. This allows you to make the protectors fit nicely and all three of my children do not experience any nasty pressure on the head of the yippee hearing protector.

Hearing protector for home and school

The extra cushioning hearing protector went to school. There, the yippee hearing protector is used several times a day and this gives my son the opportunity to finish his work better, not that it is always finished now, but that is not due to the hearing protection in any case.

We use the regular cushioning hearing protector at home. When a break is needed in the daily cacophony. When the vacuum cleaner is turned on, the hoods go on. When it’s the first Monday of the month and the siren goes off? Cut it down! If you want to read a book and your sister is doing the tip-toi? Cut it down!

And the best part, even though it’s been back for a while? Celebrating New Year’s Eve without tears and with much less stress. Enjoy the fireworks together with mom and dad without your ears tormenting you. Highly recommended for children who are sensitive to noise!

My daughters now also use the protectors regularly. And on New Year’s Eve they slept through the fireworks, with the protectors just on their ears! Talk about wearing comfort 😉 hahahaha!
