Deep pressure and weighting
When I heard from the sensory integration therapist about “deep pressure” and “weighting products” I decided to delve into what there is for this. Through bol.com I soon came across a weighted cuddly toy (the dolphin). I decided to start with this. Talitha really liked this dolphin cuddly toy and often took it on her lap. The moments she didn’t want him, Elena quickly took him. Elena also calmed down. The weighted cuddly toy came with a flyer from educadora and yes that’s where it started haha.

Sensory products
I decided to take a look at this webshop without really having any expectations. But I was amazed! What a range of all kinds of different products. And you can also read a lot of interesting blogs. After I had sifted through the site a bit, my eye lingered on the sensory swing. Talitha loves to swing, but it is of course often cold and wet in winter. Now it is also the case that she has trouble with temperature differences. So then the therapy swing for the living room is quite a godsend for us and of course it can also hang outside. After weeks of looking at it and bragging about it to my husband every day, I was finally allowed to order it.
Swinging to unwind
Once the swing cloth hung in the living room and I put Talitha in it, something seemed to happen to her. She was sitting in the swing and she was so relaxed! She started to “hum” and got into her own world. She sat and lay in it for an hour and was wonderfully quiet. This effect lingered for a while afterwards. After swinging, she even easily went along in her buggy to get an errand. That while she absolutely did not want to go in the buggy for a while. So this was very special for us to see. The nice thing about this swing is that you can sit and lie in it. It is a cloth, which also gives deep pressure , so you can enter it in different ways. It’s just what you like. Since that moment Talitha has been a bit calmer and is only too happy to sit in the buggy. Wow.
Looking for stimuli with the tactile circles
In the meantime I kept looking at educadora and ordered some more things. For example, we have the colored silicone feelers with different textures as a barefoot path. These are 5 large and 5 small silicone circle mats. Well, here these mats are a wonderful activity. Talitha already had a slight obsession with wanting to walk all over everything. Apart from the fact that she is stimulus avoidant, she is also stimulus seeking. So these mats were perfect. When we got them, our girls put the mats in a neat row and started walking over them. They did this for a total of 2 hours. And the sensory circles are still regularly walked over.
Motor skills and sensory toys
Also the mirror pile of stones are a great success here. Talitha especially likes to look in the mirror and Elena likes to stack the stones. This way they can play together in their own way. And they will be busy with it for a long time.
Hearing protection
Every time we order something from educadora it is a great success here in the house! I can really say that we are fans! Even when Talitha needed a different pair of headphones, we came back to educadora. I have to say that the headphones are really cool! It’s a cool panther print and yes mom likes that haha.
But Talitha also likes it because then she thinks she is a tiger and so she shouts “rawr Talitha tiger raaaawrrrr” all the time. She repeats this quietly about 100 times. I have to say to her “oh what a beautiful tiger you are”. I don’t do that… well then she gets angry haha. Fortunately, I like to go along with her fantasy.
I am a fan of Educadora and I think it will stay that way. The customer-friendliness is great and I also like the points savings system.
