Our third daughter Noor was born with a rare genetic mutation on her9th chromosome, Kleefstra syndrome. This means that it is multiple limited, with all the challenges that entails. One of the features of this syndrome is night terrors. Many children seem to have the greatest difficulty falling asleep, but also mainly sleeping through. Our Norwegian seems to have less trouble with that for the time being. Maybe it’s because she sleeps under a weighted blanket?
I sincerely believe that the weighted blanket gives her a feeling of security and therefore she falls asleep well and deeply. It helps remove the incentives. Her therapists and I actually thought that was a good idea for the day. Sometimes she seems to be just a little too overstimulated and that she no longer knows what to do with herself. A moment of rest under the weighted blanket could then offer a solution.
Instead of the blanket, we now use Manimo the dog. Just a weighted blanket, but in cuddly form! Super practical for on the go or at home on the couch or even to school. It looks just a bit friendlier than a blanket and can immediately act as a boyfriend. Very nice that someone has thought that security can also just come in an animal form. In any case, Noor has found her peace in and with Manimo the dog.
